Gold is still obtained in the same way as before, but is now only used to build rooms, traps and pay your creatures. One of the most important changes is that there are now two different resources, gold and mana. The "computer assistance" from Dungeon Keeper 1 is now gone. It is possible to see how many creatures are happy, unhappy and mad. The user interface has been revamped, and it is now easier. And of course, there is the multiplayer mode that we all know and love. New in this game is the My Pet Dungeon mode, where you build a dungeon and fight off incoming waves of heroes to amass a certain number of points to win. Once you have conquered the various regions in the game you win.
#Dungeon keeper 2 remake series
There is the usual single player campaign where you build a series of dungeons, and in each one conquer either a Lord of the Land or an opposing Keeper to obtain a portal gem. The game now features several different game modes. The effects system was revamped and is now much more colorful and elaborate. Dungeon Keeper 2 is now totally 3D, using Direct 3D, with polygon models for all creatures, objects and rooms in the game world. The play style is more or less the same as Dungeon Keeper, so I will concentrate on what has changed.
Bullfrog more or less modified/added/removed a lot of things from the original to arrive at this game. It is more or less a remake of Dungeon Keeper, as it does not really take the game in any new directions. An evil warrior known as the Horned Reaper (or 'Horny') believes he has the ability to remove Portal Gems from Harmonia, and has enlisted the player's assistance in conquering its realms so he can claim the Portal Gems.Dungeon Keeper 2 is the sequel to Bullfrog's excellent Dungeon Keeper. These devices have forced even serious dungeon keepers into retreat. Reginald has twenty Portal Gems, each assigned to a realm and safeguarded by its guardian. The kingdom of Harmonia, ruled by King Reginald, has been under siege from dungeon keepers for a while, and his wizards have devised a device known as a Portal Gem to confine evil creatures to the underworld, while still allowing good forces access. The game was later released on gog.com and Origin. Dungeon Keeper 2 received positive reviews: reviewers lauded the graphics and artificial intelligence, although some reviewers criticized its similarity to the original. A PlayStation version, and a sequel, Dungeon Keeper 3, were in development but cancelled. Development was carried out by a team of around fifty people, who focused on the graphics on multiplayer. The game carries over many ideas from the original and adds new elements including units, rooms, and objectives.
The player can also construct a dungeon without strict objectives, and multiplayer is supported over a network. In the campaign mode, the player is charged with recovering the portal gems from each area in order to open a portal to the surface. The sequel to Dungeon Keeper, the player takes the role of a 'dungeon keeper', building and defending an underground dungeon from the would-be heroes that invade it, as well as from other keepers. Dungeon Keeper 2 is a strategy game developed by Bullfrog Productions and published by Electronic Arts in 1999 for Microsoft Windows.
